I live in Sweden. I have not known about BYJ until this year. I started to read about Korea and found excellent actor, actresses artists and musicians.
Like to know more about all of them
You live in Japan?
Hi again Ida,
So you are from Sweden! The land of great films!
Did you get to know BYJ through TWSSG? Is it available in Sweden?
I hope you have a wonderful time watching the other works by BYJ.
Hope to learn more about Sweden from you!

Oh yes Ida, I forgot to mention that I live in Japan - in Yokohama, a city next to Tokyo.

Most new things I find on the internet is caused by a chain reaction. I saw a Korean film on TV, was curious about the actor who played the hero, found a Korean TV drama with him in and Choi Ji Wo who also starred in Winter Sonata, that led to April Snow and TWSSG. As a bonus I found some talented Korean artists and musicians. So that is how it happened.
I would not call myself a fan like you would describe a fan of BYJ, but rather interested in this far away country and culture. BYJ is a good ambassador for his country.
About Sweden you can always find interesting things on the net to explore about my country.
Dear Ida,
I know what you mean - my interest towards Korea (and Asia) keeps growing after I had this wonderful encounter with BYJ. And I feel very lucky to make an acquaintance like you who lives outside Asia.
I have an interest for Ingmar Bergman's films, but I have not seen too many of them. My son always liked the books written by Lindgren and he wants to visit Sweden someday!
If you have any movies you'd like to recommend to us, it would be great!

Dear Flowerbossa,
Bt the way what does "flowerbossa" mean?
I know that Ingmar Bergman is concidered a sucessfull director but he is too deep and dark for me. A film that got an Oscar was "Fanny and Alexander" and it has been shown on Tv here numerous times.
on this link you can find all his films. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077711/
"Autumn Sonata" is also a sad film but with very good actors. Ingrid Bergman who played in Casablanca is in it.
I can understand that your son likes Astrid Lindgren books. They are loved all over the world.
Another good Swedish director is Lasse Hallstrom
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002120/
Any film by him is good.
You might know this story:
Hachiko: A Dog's Story that is coming up this year.
Hello again Ida,
Ha ha, flowerbossa doesn't "mean" anything, but I just thought it would be fun to string a part of my name (Yuka - written with the Chinese characters "tie" and "flower") and a genre of music I like, "bossa nova".
I agree with your opinion about Bergman - I saw both "Autumn Sonata" and "Fanny and Alexander". Both were excellent films but EXTREMELY heavy. Not the type of film you want to see many times!
About Hallstrom - I looked at the list of films he directed and hadn't realized that movies like "Gilbert Grape" and "Cider House Rules" were directed by him. I really liked both of them. I had recorded "Chocolat" awhile ago but I haven't seen it yet. Thanks for pointing him out to me!

If your son still likes Astrid Lindgren (and even if he is grown up maybe he still likes her) he (and you ) can watch the film about
"The Children of Bullerby", directed by Lasse Hallstrom.
That is Sweden a long time ago when everything was just fine and no worries could move your world. It was done in the 80th so maybe it is hard to find now.
(I have tried to send this several times but it doesn't work so I use anonymous now and see if that will work.)
Hello Ida,
I've actually seen the movie on NHK (the channel that showed TWSSG). You're right, it shows an idealistic world - especially for children. My son used to love the book.
I used to have problems posting on this board too. Sorry for the inconvenience!
love,
flowerbossa
